breastfeeding
We know that breastfeeding is best for baby, but that doesn't mean it comes naturally. Breastfeeding is a learned experience and it takes time for mom and baby to work together. The Breastfeeding class provides moms and partners with all the information needed to get on the path to successful breastfeeding and to stay on it!
Upon completion of the Breastfeeding class, you will...
- understand the physiology of the breast
- be familiar with the common myths vs. facts about breastfeeding
- understand the essentials of getting off to a good start
- be able to recognize hunger cues from baby
- be able to identify if your baby is getting enough milk
- understand how to correctly latch-on and position baby
- understand how to continue breastfeeding while working
- understand when to seek help
The Breastfeeding class meets once for 3 hours, and can be taken individually or as part of the Comprehensive Package. I recommend moms and partners to attend the Breastfeeding class together. The partners’ understanding and support of breastfeeding is integral to mom and baby’s breastfeeding success. I recommend you complete these classes prior to 36 weeks of pregnancy.
